We want to feel guilty about saying anything bad about washi tape. If you’re a creative person, this Japanese paper tape seems to have endless uses, allowing you to create all kinds of creative colors. They are inexpensive, readily available, versatile, and flexible. It’s also not a good choice if you want to ship or pack the tape. Here is the reason.
First of all, custom washi tape shares many of the same properties as masking tape. And while masking tape has many useful applications, it’s not a practical shipping tape. That’s because masking tape is easy to remove once it’s attached. Its adhesive is not as strong as other tapes which means it can be changed. Washi tape will work well if you want to label a moving box but don’t give you a way to protect your products on their journey to your customers.
If it’s not washi, then why?
We don’t want to just say “stay away from washi tape when shipping” and call it a day. Fortunately, there are several different tape options to choose from.
- Tape paper
This environmentally friendly, waterproof tape adheres well to boxes and has fiberglass strips for an added level of safety.
Once the paper tape is closed, it creates a permanent bond. The only way to open it is to tear it open, just like you should do with an envelope.
The only downside to using paper tape is that it comes off a computer tape machine. So instead of bringing your tape to your boxes, you’ll have to bring your boxes to your tape.
- Polypropylene tape
Printed poly tapes this is a very popular form of packaging and shipping, known for the crazy sound it makes when it comes off.
There are several reasons why many businesses choose to use polypropylene tape:
Usually less expensive than other types of tapes.
When you need printed tape, polypropylene offers a great experience, especially for projects with long images, due to the use of a polymer plate for printing.
Polypropylene is a thick tape. The thickness of the tape is measured in mils, and one millimeter is equal to one-thousandth of this. The thicker the tape, the stronger the adhesion. Polypropylene is usually in the 1.9 to 2.9 mil range, making it ideal for heavy packaging.
Just keep that noise in mind if you work in a small office or other places that values silence.
- Pvc tape
Pvc tapepvc (polyvinyl chloride) may not be as popular as its polypropylene cousin, but it’s still very practical and versatile.
In addition to being quieter than polypropylene, it is thicker and stronger. You are easy to deal with, and you are not easy to deal with. And if that happens, pvc will easily become unstable.
And although pvc tape requires pressure to adhere, it remains aggressive and adheres to a wider range of surfaces than polypropylene.

Split tape vector files
Graphic design to create a logo in vector format the great thing about vector art is its versatility. We can change and enlarge vector images to a large size and they do not lose their registration.
In other words, the same piece of art you would put on your business card would work on a board.
Vector images are grouped so that when working with multiple colors, they are easier to handle when elements of different colors are combined or touching.
Poly tape is the type of tape selected?
A work of art is a work of art. It doesn’t vary from tape to tape. But like we said before, if you want a printed custom washi tape that shows a lot, your best bet is polypropylene tape and not the pvc type.
Although both tapes work well with special graphics and images, polypropylene tape uses a polymer plate for its printing, which makes it a better choice for long-term printing with features. Many.
Pvc tape, on the other hand, is made of a laminated rubber plate. As printing continues, the rubber absorbs the printing ink and causes the plate to expand, causing the print to become illegible.
