While there are thousands of games that can be played on the PS5 thanks to the special feature of the Playstation 5, or “backward compatibility“, very few are specifically designed for Sony’s latest console.
We’ve rounded up the best games you can play on the PS5 today and break them down by genres so you can easily browse what interests you the most. From RPGs to multiplayer games (whose sub-type, a multiplayer online battle arena, has titles that are highly popular for betting at Bookmaker-Expert.com) and free games, we’ve got you covered!
Between the Dark Souls trilogy, as well as Sekiro and Bloodborne, FromSoftware has a lot of game experience, so it’s no wonder that the Elden Ring is fantastic. The Elden Ring is set in the Lands Between, where players take on the role of Tarnished in an attempt to fix the broken Elden Ring and become Elden masters, thanks to cooperation with Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin.
Elden Ring somehow justified the huge hype that surrounded it, providing an amazing world into which players could be on the ’roster’ for hundreds of hours. Elden Ring has been given a perfect 5/5 rating by many, citing, among other things that the Elden Ring has been described as a master class in open-world game design. FromSoftware has poetically shaped a beautiful, fantastic world, which seeks to be explored. It’s a typical action RPG and an obvious candidate for the game of the year.
Demon’s Souls, originally developed by FromSoftware, was the predecessor to Dark Souls in 2009, which went on to start the entire genre of games. Players travel to the land of Boletaria to confront King Allant, who has reawakened an ancient evil and his army of demons. Fighting in Demon’s Souls is, as you might think, exceedingly difficult, and there are no weight settings to make it easier. You’ll either improve and progress in the game or you’ll perish trying. From scratch, over and over again.
Bluepoint has completely reworked Demon’s Souls as the title for the PS5 launch, and attention to detail is immediately visible. Although it remained faithful to the original vision, its graphics were revised to meet today’s standards. With some quality of life improvements and minor changes here and there, Bluepoint has made sure to leave all the old breakdowns in the past. What’s left is a fantastic remake, arguably one of the best ever done. Although it’s more of an action RPG than a traditional RPG, it still fits into the genre.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher is one of the most acclaimed RPGs that emerged from the popular book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski and eventually turned into the Netflix series. The games are their own beasts, and none are as beloved as The Witcher 3. Released in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was the culmination of years of work, leading to the final battle with Geralt and Ciri against Wild Hunt. The game and its extensions are considered one of the greatest games ever made.
In a world of imagination inspired by Slavic mythology, The Witcher 3 depicts fantastic monsters and magic in a vast open-world full of mysteries to be discovered and cities to explore. Your choice in the role of Geralt affects the outcome of the story, including which characters will survive the entire ordeal. With dozens of hours of playing, it’s easy to get lost in the world that CD Projekt RED designed so carefully.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
With subsequent episodes like Origins and Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed has evolved from an action/adventure stealth game to a full-fledged RPG. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the developer’s most recent big game, expands on this by allowing players to live out their Viking dreams in England during the Dark Ages. With the constant quarrels ravaging Norway, our hero sails to the shores of England, but its current king and citizens aren’t very kind to these foreigners.
Players can select a male or female Eivor character, which can be customized with various hairstyles and tattoos. Valhalla, like its predecessors, allows players to employ a variety of weaponry, including the option to use two shields at the same time. A huge, branching skill tree and over a dozen unlockable abilities are also included. Because no two Eivors are the same, customize them to fit your playing style.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is a game that just doesn’t give up. As much as people have complained that Skyrim has been re-released for the umpteenth time, it wouldn’t have happened if people hadn’t bought it. People rush to buy it because it’s still a terrific game. Exploring a variety of dungeons and getting lost in a variety of side missions is never boring. Whatever magic ingredient Bethesda put to its RPG formula clearly worked, which is a good thing considering The Elder Scrolls 6 won’t be released for years (though not on PS5).
Skyrim Anniversary Edition is the same game you know and love with a bunch of extra goodies. Along with extensions such as Dawnguard, Hearthstone, and Dragonborn, the Anniversary Edition also includes new Creation Club content and fishing. So pick up your weapon one more time and play a series of new quests with new rewards you can earn. Best of all, those who already own the Special Edition can get a discounted upgrade to the Anniversary Edition.
Nioh Collection of Games
Remastered editions of the original and second-action RPG series games are included in the Nioh collection. Nioh is a game that follows an Irish warrior in Japan during the 1600s (although in a fictionalized fantasy form), and it is similar to Dark Souls in terms of gameplay. Nioh 2 is a ‘prequel’ set in the late 1500s and stars a semi-yokai, or Japanese demon, who is attempting to oust army commander Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
Both games feature 4K resolution at an astonishing 120 frames per second, making them among the few games with such high frame rates. Each also comes with all the major DLCs, a total of six extensions. They also support DualSense features like haptic feedback and configurable triggers, just like previous PS5 games.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
One of the most well-known and acclaimed series is Final Fantasy, that when it comes to JRPGs. Square Enix has decided to update Final Fantasy 7, which many consider to be the best entry in the series, in order to satisfy fan requests. Its replication was fantastic, and when the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was released, it just got better. It included not only PS5 enhancements, but also some amusing DLC featuring Yuffie in the lead role.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is a must-have for any RPG enthusiast. It keeps everything that made the original so good while also adding new gameplay elements for today’s audience. When the balance is so delicate, this is difficult to establish, yet Square Enix has made it simple.
Horizon Forbidden West
Given how amazing Horizon Zero Dawn was, it will always be a difficult act to follow. Guerilla Games was certainly ready for the challenge. Not only has the studio made a worthy sequel to one of the greatest games ever made, but it has further developed Aloy’s character and the world of Horizon in meaningful ways, adding new machines and stunning dedication. Every PlayStation fan and adventure game fan should try this game.
The plot takes place a few months after the end of Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West sees Aloy in a race against time to prevent a cataclysmic event from destroying the planet. To save everyone, she travels to rebuild GAIA, a benign artificial intelligence that should be able to repair the Zero Dawn terraformation system.
Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima was already one of the most well-received PS4 games, and it became much better with the PS5’s Director’s Cut. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut adds a new locale, Iki Island, as well as a variety of DualSense features, giving those who have already played on PlayStation 4 plenty of reasons to return. Tsushima is as beautiful as it has always been, and the fight is as thrilling as it has always been.
Samurai Jin Sakai must do everything he can to protect his people, even if it means going against everything he’s ever learned, when the Mongols invade on Tsushima Island. In Japan, Ghost of Tsushima is frequently compared to Assassin’s Creed, so fans of that series will feel right at home.
Borderlands 3 is Gearbox Software’s latest and greatest, taking the role-playing shooter to new planets and places across the galaxy. Somewhat above what it did in Borderlands 2, Gearbox has created more than a billion procedurally generated weapons with unique parts and features depending on their brand.
It supports up to four players co-op and comes with dozens of hours of content, not even considering its fabulous DLCs, there almost seems to be an endless amount of fun to entertain. When you add in the brand’s unique sense of humor and graphical style, you get a terrific game for everyone.
Rainbow Six Siege
If you want to play a multiplayer game that emphasizes teamwork and environmental damage, featuring dozens of playing cards and modes, as well as seasonal events – Rainbow Six Siege should be your choice. Like Black Ops Cold War, the rifle game here is exceptional. Whatever the state of the game when it was launched, it’s now incredibly fun and boasts tens of millions of players, keeping the fan base active and engaged.
If you want a bit of single-player play, Rainbow Six Siege offers 10 solo missions so you can get to know the mechanics before you jump into multiplayer and experience your K-D ratio being 2-20.
Kill the forces of hell and break through the hundreds, probably thousands, of demons in Doom Eternal, the sequel to “Easy“, a reboot of a series released by Id Software a few years ago. The burden is on you, the Doom Slayer, to combat Khan Maykr (an evil beast hell-bent on annihilating humanity) and the Hell Priests, now that the Earth has been taken over by demonic forces.
Doom Slayer battles the typical cast of villains, including some familiar characters as well as some newcomers. Doom Eternal places a strong emphasis on fast-paced gameplay, urging players to push forward and use raw force to defeat opponents while managing their resources. The shotgun and the BFG 9000 are two of the firearms you have at your disposal.
Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village caused waves when it was first published, in part because of the ravishing Ms. Alcina Dimitrescu, who literally drove the entire Internet crazy. However, she’s only one part of a much bigger game, but Capcom knew how to place Village well. She and her three daughters are constantly stalking you around the castle, which is definitely a good thing, because Resident Evil has been at its root, since its beginnings, a survival-horror game.
A story from RE8 or Resident Evil Village follows Ethan Winters after the Resident Evil 7 event. When Chris Redfield bursts into his life and turns him upside down, Ethan goes to a mysterious European village ruled by Lycans, vampires, and other ugly creatures. RE8 as a game tries to unite all the good from RE7 and classic sequels, games ingeniously designed by Shinji Mikami. He succeeded halfway in that, but regardless, RE8 is still a good game, which will give you hours and hours of fun. You will especially look forward to visiting Dimitrescu Castle and hiding from the enchanting, above-named lady.
