4 Common Mistakes in Product Labeling (and how to avoid them)

What makes a product label good? And what can negatively impact the look of your labels? When you’re creating or designing product labels, it’s important to avoid common mistakes.

If you make these mistakes, it can lead to unhappy customers and possible low sales. But we are here to help you out. Here are four common mistakes to avoid when creating vinyl labels, along with advice on how to create a stunning look:

    1. Choosing a confusing layout

When customers spot your product on the shelf or in your online shop, they should be able to understand what it is and what it does within seconds. If your sticker layout is confusing or busy, they likely won’t even give it a second glance, negatively impacting your sales.

To get the most out of your custom labels, stick to a simple layout with clear fonts and an easily-understood hierarchy of information. This can help you lure consumers in and make them want to learn more.

    2. Including too much information

You may be tempted to include as much information as possible on your product label in an effort to be transparent and really sell all of its benefits. However, this can actually backfire.

Too much information can be confusing and overwhelming, and will likely just end up getting ignored. Stick to the essentials – your product name, a brief description, dosage instructions, and any necessary warnings.

    3. Opting for the wrong size

The size of your product label will be determined by the size of your product, of course. But it’s important to make sure that your label is proportional and can big enough for all the text you would like to include.

If your labels are too small, they will be difficult to read, while a label that’s too large will look out of place and may even overpower your products. So be sure to these different die cut stickers and labels size before creating your design.

    4. Forgetting to proofread

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s amazing how often labels go to print with typos and other errors. Proofreading is essential to catch any mistakes before your labels go out into the world.

After all, mistakes are much easier to correct while your labels only exist on the screen than later on. Make sure to have someone else read over your labels to catch anything you may have missed. This will save you valuable time and money.

Avoiding these common mistakes when it comes to sticker printing will help ensure that your labels are effective and compliant. Take the time to do it right, and your products will be sure to stand out from the rest! Are you ready to give product labels a try? Then let us know in the comments.
